The word Healthy diet can be daunting. And it is often overwhelming too. It doesn’t have to be difficult though. It can actually be quite simple. You want to start small and grow into healthy eating. When I first dove into healthy eating I wasn’t sure I wanted to do it. It seemed like too much and it seemed boring and horrible. Then I did it anyway and I was pleasantly surprised with what healthy eating was and the plethora of healthy options. As I took on this journey I found 4 keys to beginning a healthy diet.
When beginning to eat healthy I had many second thoughts, many questions, and many times second guessed my choice. There were many foods I looked at and said no way. I was very closed minded in the beginning. Once I started to try foods I began to realize how much I had been missing out on. Here are some of the foods I struggled with in the beginning.
Taking care of your self is one of the most important parts of life and your health. It is often the one thing we forget about too. The truth is if you don’t take care of yourself you really can’t take care of anyone else. So before you give all your time to everyone and everything create some time for self-care. It can be quick, it can be long whatever fits you best...just do it! Check out my Self Care List below and bring one or two or more into your life...
Are you busy? I know I am, life is crazy at times. We have all been told that movement is important. We all understand we have to move.So how do we fit it into our crazy lives? This definitely feels difficult at times; however, it may not be as hard as you think. Some days it seems like time is not there, then some days it is and we just can’t figure out what to do, and some days we just forget it all together.

Children need water just as much as we do. If fact they are usually more active so water is more important to them. A general rule for children is 6 to 8 cups a day, throughout the day. More if they are out in the heat. Now unless you were lucky as a parent most children don’t want water, they want other things so lets make it fun. A Challenge!
We all know water is important, it’s the one thing you are told from day one. We are made up of 75% water and 85% of our brains is water. Needless to say water is important! Some say we need 8 cups a day others say we need as much as 15 cups a day. We could debate, I won’t do that though. Bottom line you want water every day and a lot of it. So why not do a Challenge?
Yoga is truly a practice that changes your entire body and when you are consist, it does not take long to see or feel the difference. Practicing a power flow allowed me to get my body back to a pre-baby body and I was not working any particular muscles just flowing. Yoga has much to do with Core strength. Many poses strengthen your core all around, front and back. And it doesn’t always feel so intense, I’m not a fan of only doing crunches or sit ups. I like to work out every muscle because all of our muscles work together in each moment so why strengthen one at a time…
As I stated in Yoga is the Best way to Build your Core. Yoga has truly changed my body. It is a practice that allows me to work out my entire body while strengthening my core. And often times you don’t realize how much you are using your core, which is super cool because personally I don’t like the feeling of doing tons or crunches!
Food and Nutrition are a huge debate around the world and Conventional vs Organic doesn’t fall far behind either. Many say there is no added benefit to organic foods and others clearly see a higher nutrient level in organic foods. Bottom line…who is right and who is wrong? Well, no one has to be right or wrong because it is simply a matter of opinion.
Smoothies are a new fun experiment in our home. We have enjoyed basic smoothies for a while and have now began to experiment. I am also trying to get more veggies into the little guy! This is not a veggie packed Smoothie, however it is a nice treat packed with Nutrients and great for fighting those sugar cravings!
Prenatal/Postnatal Strengthening will be all about preparing the body for labor and recovering after. Its nothing you cant handle though. And still safe for pregnancy. Here you will Strengthen legs and core muscles. Without an intense workout. Both are important for labor and post pregnancy recovery. This is an empowering flow and I love to do it!
Morning Rise is to open up and stretch out from the often rough night of sleep and to start your day clear and focused with intention. This one is great even if you’re not Pregnant. This is a sequence I do every morning before I get out of bed, yes I'm serious. No mat, it really allows me to be open for my day and my body to move freely.
Yoga and Pregnancy go very well together. Yoga can be gentle enough for a non-intense exercise or intense enough for a tougher workout. During Pregnancy there are all kind soft things going on in the body…added weight, less energy, skin stretching, and hormones are a wreck. With so much to deal with, Yoga is the grounding and stretching needed.
Some say you don’t need to wash your face and others say you do. Bottom line I feel if there is dirt or make up on my face I need to wash it off. Yoga is a powerful practice. It is rooted in mind, body and spirit, connecting the three as one. A part of yoga is the physical practice, but there is so much more. I started my journey with yoga years ago and earlier this year I started a Yoga Writing Exploration. It is an exploration into yoga that I had experienced and put it into several posts for you. I have compiled all these post here.

Ishvara Prandhana is the last of the Niyamas (Read more about Niyamas Here). It means to surrender. And to surrender grants us the freedom and bliss we dream of. Ishvara Prandhana is by far one of the hardest things to do. And yet it has the greatest gift that comes with it…
